Masterclass Phia Ménard
Posted on 1 September 2020 — In: Featured
Each year Circuscentrum organises a masterclass for circus artists and students of professional circus schools. In december 2020 we have an interesting teacher coming over: Phia Ménard.
Phia Ménard (France, °1971) is a juggler, performance artist, choreographer and scenographer. She’s considered as one of the most important circus authors of the 21st century. Her work – amongst others: P.P.P., L’Après-midi d’un foehn and Maison Mère – is programmed in the most renowned theaters and festivals across the world.
The masterclass (16-18 December 2020, Ghent, Belgium) is titled ‘Pour l’indiscipline des corps dans un monde post-Covid’. Together with the participants Phia will research what physicality can mean in a post-corona-era. What is our relationship with other bodies? Have we all become suspects? Is the imposition of ‘safe distance’ anything more than the creation of new boundaries?
