Youth circus in Flanders
Youth circus in Flanders is represented by more than 20 'circusateliers'. A circusatelier is a school in which kids and adults can improve their circus skills recreationally or professionally. More than 4000 people in Flanders learn circus in the youth circus schools. One can become acquainted with juggling (diabolo, balls, cones, flowersticks, …), balance (tightrope, ball, unicycle,...) and acrobatics on and above the ground (bascule, sling, trapeze,...). Apart from that, clowning gains increasing importance.
There are classes for infants up to and including adults, for starters and advanced artists. You can choose a yearly course or single initiation, training, circus camp, free practise hours,... Beside the circusateliers, there are somewhat limited 'circus clubs', often focusing on one discipline (mostly juggling), that offer a free space to practice.
