Apart from the work that is done offstage, there is a number of well-visible projects. A summary.

Circus in Vooruit

Vooruit Arts Centre and the Circuscentrum join hands to help contemporary circus arts in Flanders gain its deserved cultural acknowledgement. Starting from 2011, a number of foreign and domestic top productions is programmed at Vooruit.

Youth Circus Festival

The Youth Circus Festival is one of the most important circus festivals in Belgium that focuses on youth circus, onrushing talent and (inter)national top-class performers. At the Baudelopark in Ghent during the Ghent Festivities.

Klein Onderhoud

The Circuscentrum offers 'Small Maintenance Sessions' that aim at uniting artists, directors and professionals for an artistic greasing of the wheels.

Unicycle convention

The unicycle convention is an annual gathering of hundreds of unicycle fiends, organised by Circuscentrum. A weekend with workshops, showcases, tricksharing, contests, a world-class circus theatre performance and the renowned unicycle basketball tournament.

Documentation centre and online database

Since 2001, the Circuscentrum (through Circusvlo) is building a documentation centre consisting of hundreds of books, files, reference books, DVDs, comics, posters and magazines, available at Circuscentrum as well as online.

De Expeditie

Since November 2010, the Circuscentrum is accommodated at the cultural business compound De Expeditie, at the former ACEC site at Dok Noord, Ghent. This location is unique not only because of its historical character but for the working space available for use by professional circus artists as well.

Circus education

Thanks to the Circus Decree, the Circuscentrum is allowed to work with 'trajectories': from young to old, amateur to professional, student to instructor or artist,... Our educational initiatives address each of these target groups.

Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe

The Circuscentrum is one of the principal associates within the Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe, which is the main European network for developing young professional circus creations.

'In Vitro 99-09' by Archaos

Four European cultural participants, including the Circuscentrum, two Brazilian partners and three important European circus schools join hands for an ambitious circus performance, 'In Vitro 99-09'.

Non-professional network

Circus as a hobby is mainly practised through circus studios. In Flanders, more than twenty of those are linked with Circuscentrum: thousands of infants, children, youngsters and adults take weekly circus classes. The Circuscentrum provides support for the circus studios and cooperates through the recreational network.
